The vote on whether to ratify our tentative agreement with NYU concluded as of 5:00pm yesterday. Our contract ratification passed by an overwhelming 98%, with 81% of all contract faculty participating. The results are as follows:

YES:  756
NO:  13

Thank you to everyone who participated in the vote. After nine years of organizing and 17 months of bargaining, this result is a clear announcement that we have won the strong first contract we need and deserve.

But our contract, no matter how strong, is not our union. Our union is all of us, fighting together for a fairer and stronger university. In the months and years to come we will need to stand together to enforce our contract, defend academic freedom, and protect and strengthen the new rights we’ve won.

Next Steps in Building our Union
Stay tuned for a town hall text week on the next steps for building our union. We’ll talk about how we should structure our union going forward so that we can enforce our contract, elect officers and stewards, kick off our official membership drive, and keep our ongoing organizing efforts strong. Watch this space for time, date, and registration link!

One of the first steps is to sign up for Union-Management Committees that are a crucial part of our contract. Please fill out this form to let us know your interest, or reply to this email.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or thoughts.
