If any of you have glanced at your pay stub, you may have noticed a couple of changes. Good news: in this paycheck you should have gotten the first $4500 of your retroactive raise. Please take the time to make sure the administration has done it correctly. Instructions are below.
Retroactive Pay for AY25-26
Our AY25-26 salaries have been updated in PeopleSync to reflect our retroactive pay increase of $6,000 (see Article 7, Paragraph 1.1).
You should make sure that the NYU administration has given you your retroactive raise, Follow these steps to check (click here for visuals):
1. Access PeopleSync through home.nyu.edu.
2. Click on your “profile” in the upper right hand corner and click “View Profile.”
3. Click on “Compensation” on the left-hand side and then view your “Total Base Pay.”
If you do not see a change reflected, check the “Pay Change History” tab (next to the “Compensation” tab). You should see an “Ad-hoc Compensation Change” dated 09/01/2025 that is $6,000 above your original “Merit Compensation Change” also dated 09/01/2025.
Please note: If you received a promotion mid-way through AY25-26, your ad-hoc retroactive pay change may have been overwritten by your ad-hoc promotion pay change. Double check that both your promotion increase and your retroactive $6,000 increase are reflected in your current annual salary.
If for any reason your pay does not accurately reflect this retroactive $6,000 increase, please contact your Unit Representative Jamie Root (root.cfu@gmail.com). I can work with you to double check and then contact HR/Financial, if needed.
First Installment of Retroactive Pay
You should receive the first installment of your retroactive $6,000 increase in your June 2026 paycheck. Retroactive pay will be disbursed in two ways: 1) a pro-rated lump sum of $4,000 minus taxes, retirement contributions, and dues in the current pay period, and 2) the remaining $2,000 spread throughout the rest of Fiscal Year 25-26.
The retroactive lump sum of $4,000 is reflected under the “Earnings” section of your pay stub as “Academic Pay” in payments beginning “09/01/2025 – 09/30/2025” until 04/01/2026 – 04/30/26,” which should reflect your new (post-$6,000 increase) monthly salary. For example:

The first installment of the remaining $2,000 is also reflected under “Earnings” as “Academic Pay” in the form of a $500 increase to your normal gross monthly Academic Pay from “04/01/2026 – 04/30/2026”. This should be the case for your remaining FY25-26 checks as well (for July, August, and September). For example:

You should also see eight lines under “Pre Tax Deductions” for your retirement contributions based on your higher, retroactive salaries, and equivalent lines under “Employer Paid Benefits.” Check to make sure the administration is deducting and contributing according to your elections.
If for any reason your pay does not accurately reflect this retroactive $6,000 increase, please contact your Unit Representative Jamie Root (root.cfu@gmail.com). I can work with you to double check and then contact HR/Financial, if needed.
Dues and Other Contributions
If you have completed dues checkoff, you will notice that you are already contributing to running our union and building a stronger labor movement. There are 2 or 3 new lines in your “Post Tax Deductions” section:
1. “CFU Dues” (reflected as 1.44% of your gross monthly earnings)
2. “CFU Initiation” (a one-time $50 sign-on fee)
3. “V-Cap – CFU” (if you elected to contribute)

If you have not yet completed your membership form and dues checkoff, please do so here.
Looking Forward
Remember that additional Fall 2026 increases will be reflected in our October 2026 paycheck.
Based on your current salary, you will fall under one of two categories: 1) your AY26-27 salary will be the one reflected in the Decompression Table commensurate with your years of service and rank (see Appendix A) or 2) if your years of service and rank would bring you to an increase of under $14,000 between your original AY25-26 salary and your projected AY26-27 salary, you will receive an $8,000 increase on top of your retroactive $6,000 increase to bring you to a total of a $14,000 increase between your original AY25-26 salary and your AY26-27 salary ($6,000 + $8,000 = $14,000).
If you are unsure in which category you fall, please check the salary calculator.
We will be in touch again in September when these changes are likely to be made in PeopleSync/Workday to make sure that the transition into our new AY26-27 salaries is as smooth as possible.
Finally, if you are set to receive a promotion increase in Fall 2026, we should be especially vigilant to make sure that your salary reflects both your promotion (or rank) and other applicable increases. Please reach out to Unit Representative Jamie Root (root.cfu@gmail.com). I will be sure to follow up with you in the Fall to make sure your salary reflects the appropriate changes.
In solidarity,
