Thank you to the 515 CFU members who voted in this week’s election, which ended at 5pm today. I am pleased to announce the results.
Interim Unit Chair
Elisabeth Fay (Expository Writing Program, Faculty of Arts and Science) was the sole nominee and so was elected by acclamation. She was sworn into office on Monday.
Unit Representatives
The following top five vote-getters have been elected:
Gwendolyn Alker (Drama, Tisch School of the Arts)
Dustin Jones (Schack Institute of Real Estate, School of Professional Studies)
Ger O’Donoghue (Expository Writing Program, Faculty of Arts and Science)
Benedetta Piantella (Technology, Culture and Society, Tandon School of Engineering)
Jamie Root (French Literature, Thought and Culture, Faculty of Arts and Science)
Thank you to all the candidates who ran, and congratulations to the winners.
Remember that in the fall we will be electing full-term Unit Chair, and for officers who will serve on the CFU-UAW Workplace Council, representing our schools, programs, and departments in the democratic governance of our bargaining unit, and on the UAW 7902 Joint Council, representing us in the democratic governance of our amalgamated local. Separately, we’ll also take part in the nationwide election for the UAW International Executive Board. There will also be many opportunities to be active in our union other than in elected office.
If you haven’t yet, it’s not too late to join the more than 80% of contract faculty across the university who have become dues-paying members of our union. You can fill out your membership form here if you haven’t already.
In solidarity,
David Cregar (Expository Writing Program, Faculty of Arts and Science)
