Share why you’re planning to vote Union YES
Tuesday, 2/27 and Wednesday, 2/28!

Through hundreds of conversations and support from a majority of us over many years, NYU Contract Faculty have expressed our challenges with increasing workload, insufficient recognition, salaries that lag behind NYC’s cost of living, and inadequate protections for those of us who are international faculty.

Today we’re excited to share an important update on our union election. Through recent discussions with the NYU administration and American Arbitration Association (AAA), we have reached an agreement on voting dates and times for our election. Our union election will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and Wednesday, Feb. 28 between 8am – 7pm (including a break). The AAA and administration are in the process of confirming on-campus voting locations for these times – we will make sure to let everyone know once this is confirmed.

If a majority of us choose UNION YES in our election, the NYU administration will be legally obligated to recognize Contract Faculty United – UAW as our union and begin collective bargaining. RSVP here for our 2nd Informational Town Hall tomorrow, Friday February 9 at 1pm to get answers to any questions and learn more about our upcoming election.

Let us know why you’re planning to vote yes on February 27th and 28th! By voting YES to unionization, we will for the first time have the right to both enshrine our current benefits and win overdue improvements to our pay, benefits, and workplace protections in an enforceable contract.

By voting YES we will join over 100,000 academic workers within the UAW who are collectively driving rapid improvements in U.S. higher education like higher wages, improved healthcare benefits, stronger protections from discrimination, sexual harassment, and abusive conduct, better job security, parental leave and childcare support, and more support for international scholars.

Every contract faculty member can participate in the bargaining process through surveys, town halls, and bargaining updates. Every contract faculty member will have the opportunity to vote on whether to ratify any proposed contract before it goes into effect. In order to begin negotiating our first contract, it’s important that as many of us as possible vote “union yes”!

The more of us who participate in this important decision and vote yes, the more effectively we will be able to negotiate for improvements with the NYU administration. Learn how to get more involved in winning our historic election here!
