The two most important things you can do to support our union right now:

  1. Sign up for your picket shifts next week. Monday and Tuesday are especially important, and we need to know we can count on strong numbers.
  2. RSVP to observe tomorrow’s bargaining session [link here]. Our bargaining committee has been working hard on our behalf; let’s give them the boost of a big crowd in the room and on the Zoom.

Yesterday, over sixty New York City and State legislators and other elected officials released a letter urging NYU to reach a fair agreement, and bargain in good faith. They wrote that NYU “has an obligation to treat its workers with dignity and to respect their collective voice.” You can read the letter here.

Friday’s bargaining session opened with the lawyers for the NYU administration presenting a comprehensive package. They are starting to listen to us, but we’re not there yet, and we need every single one of us to pitch in.

We will win a strong contract because our bargaining unit continues to show up when it matters: bargaining sessions, phone banking, picket shifts, and strike committees. Whatever happens next week, it’s critical that we continue to prepare to strike—so we’re ready, and as a show of strength for our continued bargaining.

Tomorrow, the work continues: we’ll be back at the table starting at 11am for the fourth bargaining session this week.

It’s never too late to get involved. We are the union!

On Friday, fellow professors & full-time researchers from Rutgers University, UIC, and University of
Washington joined contract faculty across campus to discuss lessons and takeaways from their successful strikes, and answer any questions.
