RSVP to observe bargaining – Fri. 10/31 10 am – 2pm

This Friday, we’ll sit down for our eighteenth bargaining session since we kicked off contract negotiations on November 1, 2024. Over the past year, we’ve been consistently disappointed — and occasionally dismayed — by the administration’s proposals.

For benefits and compensation, they want to lock in our inadequate status quo. In other areas, they seem determined to make our jobs worse: reducing our research funding, eliminating peer review in reappointment and promotion, and carving us out of shared governance.

We on the Bargaining Committee have consistently sought to respond to the administration’s concerns. We’re eager to make progress. At our last session, we moved toward them on nearly every article in our court. However, a year of bargaining has made one thing clear: no argument we advance at the table will make them pick up the pace or agree to fair terms. They only move when the membership does.

By committing to join us in the room or on Zoom, you can help send a clear message: a majority of contract faculty voted to ratify bargaining goals by an overwhelming margin over a year ago. We have waited long enough, and we’re ready to stand together and demand the strong first contract we deserve.

In solidarity,

CFU-UAW Bargaining Committee
