Despite bargaining throughout the weekend to reach a fair contract — and even giving the administration a three-hour extension — the NYU administration made an offer at 9:57. While these new proposals made some promising movement on some issues, they are not yet enough on core issues like compensation, especially decompression. They are also continuing to commit an unfair labor practice illegally refusing to bargain over housing benefits. We will continue to bargain through the day in the hopes of winning a strong and fair contract.

We are therefore on strike starting at 11:00 am today, Monday, March 23rd. Find more details on our strike and picket below.

We have always seen our campaign for a union and a fair contract as a fight not only about our working conditions, but about our students’ education, and about the future of NYU. We have been working tirelessly to reach a fair agreement for nearly 18 months. The NYU administration has chosen not to do the same.

11:00 am – Picket Line Begins at Paulson

  • Check in outside of the John A. Paulson Center (181 Mercer Street) and sign into the picket line with a strike captain in a yellow vest, who will direct you and give any instructions.
  • Bring any noisemakers you have – whistles, instruments, pots & pans!
  • Feel free to set an out-of-office reply on your NYU email to say “I am currently on an Unfair Labor Practice strike with our union CFU-UAW against NYU. Contract Faculty at NYU will be on strike and withholding our labor until the NYU administration rectifies their unlawful conduct and bargains intensively so that we can reach a fair contract.”

Spread the word to help reach a fair agreement!

  • Invite your family, friends, and community members!
  • Community supporters and unionized workers from around the city will join us in solidarity.
  • Share our hardship fund, which will support contract faculty burdened by striking: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-nyu-contract-faculty
