As you may have seen, the NYU administration sent all contract faculty a “voluntary attestation form” this afternoon, asking us to indicate whether we plan to continue working in the event of a strike. There is no requirement to fill out this voluntary attestation form, and we encourage everyone not to complete it.
The administration’s mass email is extremely disappointing — a clear attempt to discourage us from preparing for a possible strike, despite our overwhelminging vote in favor of strike authorization. We believe the NYU administration should put energy into reaching a fair agreement, rather than attempt to discourage us from striking. Our elected bargaining committee and the administration’s team have agreed to hours of negotiation sessions this week and next. We are committed to bargaining in good faith to try to avoid a strike. We hope the administration will join us in that commitment.
To that end, here are some ways you can help encourage the NYU administration to work productively towards a strong first contract:
- RSVP to our Bargaining Sessions Friday, March 13th, and over Spring Break
- Join colleagues on the picket line – sign up for shifts here!
- Share our strike FAQ and information for the NYU Community with colleagues and supporters.
- Encourage supportive colleagues, students, and alumni to participate in our email campaign.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or thoughts.
