There are three ways you can help our contract campaign right now:

1. RSVP for an escalation training on October 23, October 27, or November 1.
2. RSVP to observe bargaining on October 31st and November 14th.
3. Follow CFU on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter — then post about what a strong contract looks like to you.

We’ve been bargaining for nearly a year. The NYU administration has agreed to very little of what we’re fighting for: academic freedom, improved compensation, benefits, and job security.

Intellectual Property Win
Earlier this month we achieved a huge victory. Recently, the NYU administration tried to impose a worldwide, perpetual license to anything we write or produce while we work at NYU. We fought back and won. The fight for a fair intellectual property policy continues, but the power of our union is clear.

UAW Files Two Lawsuits to Defend International Faculty
Across the country, higher ed unions are coming together to resist attacks on our universities. Earlier this month, the UAW joined with AAUP and SEIU to file suit against the Trump administration’s illegal imposition of a $100,000 annual fee for H-1B visas. Last week, the UAW joined CWA and AFT in filing suit against the Trump administration’s unconstitutional, AI-fueled surveillance of non-citizens’ social media. We’re not waiting for the administration to defend us, our students, or the integrity of an NYU education. With a union, we’re defending ourselves.

We’ll keep fighting, but right now, the administration is not motivated to agree to fair contract terms. We can change that by showing up and finding new ways to escalate pressure and amplify our demands. RSVP to an upcoming escalation training and to one of our next bargaining sessions, and join our fight — it will take all of us.

In solidarity,

CFU-UAW Organizing Committee
