RSVP for our first fall semester bargaining session this Friday, September 12th
Join our next bargaining session on Friday, September 12 from 1PM-4PM in person and on zoom. It’s been over a year and a half since we voted overwhelmingly to form our union. And across fifteen bargaining sessions, the administration has failed to adequately respond to the vast majority of our proposals. We’re still far apart on noneconomic goals, including academic freedom, international faculty rights, and others. Most recently, they also made insufficient proposals on salaries, shared governance, and other key benefits to support our work and our students.
We see the most progress in our negotiations when we pack the room. The more of us who attend the session, the stronger the message we can send to the NYU administration and our colleagues across campus that we’ll fight for the strong contract we need and deserve.
Please RSVP if you would like to attend so that we can share logistical information in advance of the meeting. Strong contract faculty participation in this and future bargaining sessions will be critical to moving negotiations forward and winning a strong contract.
Change in insurance coverage: Last week the administration alerted us to a change in our benefits. As of January 2026, our medical insurance coverage will be provided by Aetna. Please let us know if you have any concerns as we learn more about this transition.
Get more involved in our union. In addition to attending the bargaining session, there are other ways to support our efforts for a better NYU and strong first contract:
- Leave a comment to support colleagues on F-1 and J-1 Visas: On August 28 the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a proposed change to F and J visa rules that would limit visa lengths and cause great disruption to international students and scholars. DHS is currently accepting public comment on the proposal until September 29. A mass response on public comments will convey strong opposition.
- Submit a faculty testimonial: Share a testimonial on why you think it’s important contract faculty have a strong first contract. Send a quote to cfu.uaw@gmail.com.
- Help spread the word: Last week, contract faculty spoke to hundreds of students, parents, and colleagues about our campaign, and why we deserve a strong first contract. Reply to this email to get more involved in similar efforts this semester.
